Hibiscus tea is characterised by an intensive red colour, sourness and freshness. Because of those characteristics, the hibiscus flowers are almost a mandatory component of fruit tea blends.

  • The hibiscus plant is thought to originate in Angola and it is cultivated throughout the tropical world, most notably in Sudan, Egypt, Thailand and Mexico.
  • The hibiscus flower gets it distinctive, intensive red colour from the naturally occurring pigments from the group of anthocyanins.
