According to old folk wisdom we should pause for a moment at a flowering elder bush and bow to show our gratitude. The pleasant smell of a flowering elder bush announces the arrival of summer. Just as pleasant is the smell of elder tea prepared with intoxicatingly smelling dried elder flowers.

Did you know?

  • The fresh elder flowers are used to prepare a syrup or the refreshing beverages called »elderflower champagne, šabesa« or a syrup, but they are also delicious when dipped into pancake batter and fried.
  • The elder wood is hard and high quality. The branches have a soft pith and were used to produce flutes.

Please follow the recommended preparation time, steeping for too long could result in an unpleasant taste - astringent and bitter. Always prepare fresh tea - it will taste its best without additives, especially without sugar.
